2. Ultrasound: An ultrasound is used to confirm the location of the pregnancy, its stage, and viability. There are two types:

o Transabdominal: A wand is used over your abdomen.

o Transvaginal: A probe is inserted into the vagina for a more detailed image.

The ultrasound ensures that the pregnancy is not ectopic (outside the uterus), that you’re within the safe window for an abortion, and that the pregnancy is viable.
